National Insurance Contributions A tax which you pay as you earn. It's used to help fund the social security system including the State Pension, Unemployment, and the National Health Service.

National Savings A range of savings products sold by the Government. You can usually buy them at Post Offices and on the internet.

Net Interest Interest received from a bank or building society account after basic rate tax has been deducted. Higher rate taxpayers have to pay more tax. Non tax payers can reclaim the tax through their tax office.

Normal Retirement Date (NRD) This is the assumed retirement date that is set within the rules of an occupational pension scheme.
