Pensions Simplification - Trustees

Important Information for Pension Scheme Trustees

The Pensions Simplification changes introduced by Government as a result of the Finance Act 2004 and the Pensions Act 2004 have now generally taken effect. The basic and detailed guides in our main Pensions Simplification section provide an introduction to these changes.

These changes have placed added responsibilities on pension scheme Trustees and Scheme Administrators. You, as Trustees, will often also be the Scheme Administrators (even if you do not carry out the day to day administrative functions for the scheme) and it is important that you understand your responsibilities.

To help, we have outlined the added responsibilities you may have in the “Information for Pension Trustees” document, which you can download below. You may require more in-depth information on the topics we have outlined, and you can obtain this using the links below to official websites.

You will also find below a “Calculation of A-Day Lump Sum Form”. This form has a specific use which is explained in the “Information for Pension Trustees” document.
